Over the past 15 years Sovereign
Stockmat rubber flooring has gained acceptance at many of the top stables in
the country. The benefits of reduced mucking out time, lower dust levels and
improved hygiene have meant that more stables each year fit rubber.
The payback is generally accepted as being 12- 18 months. As mucking out and
bedding costs can be reduced by 70-80%.
But what are the key things to look for considering rubber for your stables.

- Hygiene. Mats should be of a solid
construction, this means that the mats themselves cannot act as breeding
grounds for bacteria.
- Safety. Look for a mat with a good non-slip
surface and preferably made up from material that can be guaranteed to be safe.
(Some mats have used large quantities of tyre regrind which may contain a
number of impurities) The sovereign surface has been developed over 15 years
to deliver excellent non-slip properties as well as allowing easy
cleaning.
- Heavyweight and hard wearing. A horse
will apply an incredibly high force on the flooring. To stop the mat
moving under the horse the weight per square meter needs to be high.
A higher weight will also give improved wear resistance. A Sovereign
weighs over 40KG (A good indicator is to bend the mat in half and
jump in the folded edge to see if the mat withstands this punishment)
Try bending our competitors mats and see how long they last.

| Confidence in the product and
the supplier. Look for suppliers who can tell you where the mat has come
from and who are prepared to back the mats with a guarantee. Sovereign
are extremely confident in their product and back it with a 10 year guarantee. |
